The WPSL Christmas Kids completed its 65th annual Toy Drive giving presents to 1,009

underpriviledged children. The Christmas Kids, the oldest continuous St. Lucie County Toy Drive salutes all of the volunteers who made this year’s drive so successful despite a down economy.

The Christmas Kids radio shows heard from 11am to 11:30am featured entertainment from the St. Lucie County schools, private schools in St. Lucie County like St. Anastasia’s band, John Carroll High Schools flutes and the Morningside elementary school symphony orchestra. Stuart Middle School’s chorus entertained at the Sunrise Theatre, a first for the Christmas Kids. The school talent was coordinated by volunteer Noreen Molinari for her tenth season.

WPSL Christmas Kids would also like to thank the 22 Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie businesses who sponsored the entertaining shows from November 14th through December 15th, making donations to the Toy Drive. The Christmas Kids now shift gears to the summer infant swimming program in St. Lucie County in memory of past Christmas Kids President Pauline Clutter. More About the WPSL Christmas Kids

  

WPSL CHRISTMAS KIDS OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY

 

The Christmas Kids originated in 1946 when the first radio station on the Treasure Coast broadcast an appeal to help a little girl with brain cancer.  The generosity of listeners was overwhelming--the toys and money donated helped little Reba Nell & many more children.

The campaign has continued every holiday season since.  In 2006, the Christmas Kids provided toys for more than 1800 children referred by St. Lucie County Community Services and other agencies.

Over the years, the Christmas Kids expanded to include summer recreation programs for children, plus medical supplies & school clothing for families with no other place to turn.

Make A Donation to the WPSL Christmas Kids

You enabled the Christmas Kids to give more than $14,000 to:  St. Lucie County summer recreation programs, helping an estimated 150 children in day camp & swimming programs.  City of Port St. Lucie Parks & Rec. for "camperships" to help pay summer camp fees & to allow free use of Minsky Gym.  Ft. Pierce & Port St. Lucie Police Athletic Leagues for police-supervised boxing & recreation.
